10. Mass and abstinence for over 70`s. Fr Brown has been asked recently about whether the obligation to attend Mass every Sunday and to observe days of fasting and abstinence apply to the over 70`s. The law on Sunday obligation is that all Catholics are obliged to attend a Sunday Mass (includes Saturday vigil) unless for a serious reason. Age in itself does not constitute a serious reason. As for fasting and abstinence, abstinence from meat is binding on all who have completed their fourteenth year (canon 1252). Fridays are always days of abstinence in England and Wales unless a major feast falls on a Friday. Fasting (which applies to only Ash Wednesday and Good Friday) ceases to be an obligation for those who have begun their sixtieth year.

11. Father Brown & Father Milburn wish to thank everyone who helped to prepare the Church for Easter and those who helped with the Services.

Jesus is Risen
